Project Description:

In early 2015 Stephen Jones was commissioned by the Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York to create head treatments for the exhibition ‘China: Through the Looking Glass’. Andrew Bolton the curator of the exhibition approached Stephen to design the head treatments for the mannequins which would be dressed in designers from Paul Poiret to John Galliano all of whom had collections inspired by China. Over 100 designed head pieces were made in a variety of mediums, from white perspex bamboo tubes to accompany Craig Green, to gold pagodas paired with Yves Saint Laurent.
