In 2014 Stephen Jones and Comme des Garcons collaborated to create their second perfume 'Wisteria Hysteria.' Clean but seductive, familiar yet strange, futuristic and rococo, this perfume is in a mouth blown bottle, and packaged in a white miniature hat box, wrapped with milliner's veiling. The perfume was launched in March in Paris at Comme des Garcons' Trading Museum along with a exhibition of Stephen Jones white archive hats including a 1985 Stephen Jones x Comme des Garcons designed felt hat. Stephen collaborated with director Henry Pincus to create a 'Wisteria Hysteria' fashion film using clothing by L'Wren Scott, capturing the essence of the scent in a mysterious and romantic 30 second clip. An exhibition of white hats partnered with this film was launched in Dover Street Market London with a window display of cascading laser cut paper wisteria designed by Michael Howells. The Wisteria Hysteria show then travelled to Dover Street Market New York, Trading Museum Tokyo, and Comme des Garcons Hong Kong. A selection of celebratory white hats were also created to be sold at the venues to coincide with the exhibition. It all started with a chance encounter thirty years ago when Stephen Jones met Rei Kawakubo in Anchorage, Alaska and the accord which was immediately struck between the master milliner and the Japanese iconoclast continues to this day. Since then Stephen has created hats for many Comme des Garcons collections, as well as introducing the Stephen Jones 1 hats sold exclusively in Dover Street Market in London, Tokyo and the newly opened Dover Street Market New York. The enormity of their mutual respect was demonstrated in 2005 when the Dover Street Market in London and CDG / Corso Como in Tokyo hosted Stephen Jones C1/4, his twenty five year retrospective exhibition.
